Pogacar back on the bike in first recovery footage after Vuelta crash
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) has provided an update on his recovery following his season-ending crash at the Vuelta a España last month, including multiple clips of himself riding on an indoor trainer.

The World Champion shared the update to Instagram on Tuesday evening with the caption: “Not quite how we planned to spend September. At least we have good company.”
“A big thank you to our teams, families, friends and all of you for the amazing support. We are very grateful.”
The update contains a series of short clips, including Pogačar riding on his indoor trainer, with one showing him listening to Eminem as he pedals.
Pogačar didn’t share specific details about his recovery or indicate how far along he is in terms of riding, but the footage provides a positive and reassuring update nonetheless.
The 27-year-old’s season came to an abrupt end when he crashed 32km from the finish on stage 8 of the Vuelta. At the time, he was leading the GC by 3:50 over eventual winner Enric Mas, after winning three of the opening six stages.
Pogačar was diagnosed with a concussion, a displaced fracture of his left collarbone, a stable C7 cervical fracture and multiple abrasions following the crash, which forced him to abandon the Vuelta and end his season.
Days after the crash, Pogačar underwent successful surgery at the Hospital Dexeus in Barcelona before travelling home to continue his recovery.
As a result, Pogačar will also be unable to defend his rainbow jersey on 27 September in Montréal, Canada.
