Pogacar becomes only third rider to win a stage in cycling’s 10 biggest stage races
Tadej Pogacar reached another career milestone with victory on the opening stage of the Tour de Suisse, completing a rare collection of stage wins across cycling’s biggest stage races.

With a dominant solo victory in Switzerland on Wednesday, Pogačar became only the third rider to win at least one stage in all three Grand Tours and each of the seven leading one week stage races.
Laurent Jalabert and Nairo Quintana are the only other riders to have completed the same collection.
The Tour de Suisse had been the final gap in Pogačar’s record. Making his debut in the race, the Slovenian did not take long to fill it. He attacked with around 70 kilometres remaining and rode alone to the finish, gaining more than two minutes on Richard Carapaz and putting most of his general classification rivals even further behind.
The ten races included in the achievement are the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a España, Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta a Catalunya, Itzulia Basque Country, Tour de Romandie, Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Tour de Suisse.
Jalabert was the first rider to win a stage in all ten races, completing the set in 2000. The Frenchman remained alone on the list for two decades before Quintana joined him in 2020. Six years later, Pogačar became the third rider to achieve the feat.
