Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) had a near miss while tackling the technical descent of the Puerto El Bartolo on stage 6 of the Vuelta a España.

The race leader had attacked around 4km from the summit of the climb that featured a gravel finale. He had quickly opened up an advantage on his rivals, but was surprisingly caught by a rampant Enric Mas (Movistar) just before the top.

At the start of the descent, Mas could already be seen repeatedly gesturing towards Pogačar, seemingly warning the Slovenian to take care on the technical roads.

Despite Mas’ warnings, Pogačar began to push the pace on the descent, opening a small gap on his rival. But with 19km remaining, he almost crashed after veering off the road, somehow managing to stay upright before rejoining Mas at the head of the race.
