Premier Tech joins Alpecin as co-sponsor after Israel-Premier Tech split

Mathieu van der Poel's squad will be known as Alpecin-Premier Tech from 2026 after the Canadian company signed a long-term deal to sponsor the team. The women's squad will be rebranded as Fenix-Premier Tech.

Premier Tech will be a title sponsor of the Alpecin team from 2026 after agreeing an initial three-year deal with Mathieu van der Poel’s squad. The men’s team will be known as Alpecin-Premier Tech, while the women’s team will become Fenix-Premier Tech.

The Canadian company comes on board after withdrawing its backing from the Israel-Premier Tech team last month. Premier Tech ended its sponsorship following repeated protests against the team’s participation at the Vuelta a España amid Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

Premier Tech’s arrival as sponsor was revealed at a press conference in Antwerp on Friday. The announcement came just a day after it was confirmed that Deceuninck would no longer be a named sponsor for 2026, while Alpecin has extended its title sponsorship for a further two years.

“We waited for the right moment to communicate this. Some partners are renewing, and none are disappearing. They’re all renewing on improved financial terms, except one. Alpecin will definitely stay in 2026 and 2027, and there’s an option for 2028,” manager Philip Roodhooft said, according to Wielerflits.

“Premier Tech has signed a three-year contract, with an option for an additional three years. We considered continuing with Deceuninck until 2027, but at some point, this partner presented a long-term vision that we were looking for.”

The partnership with Alpecin will be Premier Tech’s third involvement with a WorldTour team, having previously served as co-sponsor of Astana in 2021. The engineering and manufacturing group also recently agreed to become a sub-sponsor of the St Michel-Preference Home-Auber93 men’s and women’s teams.

On Friday, it was also confirmed that Canadian rider Hugo Houle would join Alpecin-Premer Tech for 2026 after spending the last four years at Israel-Premier Tech.
