Quinn Simmons keeps the Stars and Stripes with third US road title
Quinn Simmons will spend another year in the Stars and Stripes after winning the United States road race title in Charleston, West Virginia.

The Lidl-Trek rider attacked with 29 kilometres remaining and quickly left Kevin Vermaerke (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Larry Warbasse (Tudor) behind. Neither could respond as Simmons extended his advantage on the run towards the finish.
He crossed the line alone after 198.6 kilometres, finishing 2 minutes and 5 seconds ahead of Vermaerke. Warbasse took third, one second further back.
It is the third national road title of Simmons’ career. The 25-year-old first won the championship in 2023 and also took the jersey last season.
Simmons has made good use of the national champion’s colours, winning at the highest level while wearing the jersey. His latest victory comes shortly after a stage win at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and underlines his strong form ahead of the Tour de France.
At the Tour, Lidl-Trek is expected to build its main objectives around Juan Ayuso in the general classification and Mads Pedersen in the sprints and the battle for the points jersey. Simmons is likely to be given more freedom, particularly on the many transitional stages where breakaways could make it to the end.
The women’s title went to Kate Courtney. The former mountain bike world champion, who is gradually shifting her focus towards road racing, finished ahead of Lauren Stephens and Grace Arlandson.
