Red Bull name Evenepoel and Lipowitz's supporting cast for Tour de France
Jai Hindley and Maxim Van Gils will be key figures in support of Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz at the Tour de France, which gets under way in Barcelona on July 4. As expected, there is no place for Primoz Roglic in the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe roster.

Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe have confirmed the team that will support Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz at the Tour de France. Jai Hindley is included after his third-place finish at the Giro d’Italia, while Maxim Van Gils starts after proving his fitness with a stage win at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes following an injury lay-off.
Jan Tratnik will serve as the road captain, while Mattia Cattaneo, Nico Denz and Tim van Dijke also feature in what Red Bull described as the “engine room” of the team. As anticipated, there is no place for Primož Roglič, who will instead focus on the Vuelta a España.
“The Tour is no longer won by an exceptional rider alone, but by an exceptional team,” Red Bull chief of sports Zak Dempster said in a statement on Friday.
“We believe we are bringing one of the most complete squads to the start. With Remco and Florian, we have two leaders who have already proven they can stand on the Tour podium. Their different strengths give us tactical options that could prove decisive.”
Lipowitz placed third overall behind Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard at last year’s Tour, and the German has enjoyed a consistent 2026 campaign to date. He finished his Tour build-up with two stage wins and the overall title at the Tour of Slovenia.
Evenepoel joined Red Bull in the winter after they extricated him from his contract at Soudal Quick-Step, and he arrived with the stated aim of improving on his third-place finish at the 2024 Tour.
Although the Belgian has won seven races so far in 2026 and made a fine debut at the Tour of Flanders, he fell well short in his two WorldTour stage race outings to date. Red Bull decided to withhold him from the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes this month in favour of an extended training period ahead of the Tour.
Hindley placed third overall at the Giro behind a rampant Vingegaard, and the Australian looks set to be a key supporting figure in the mountains alongside Van Gils.
Evenepoel and Lipowitz will also hope to get off to a fast start in the team time trial in Barcelona on the opening day.
“The strength of this roster goes far beyond Remco and Florian,” said sports director Patxi Vila. “We have experienced climbers, strong all-rounders and riders capable of taking responsibility in every race situation. Every Tour develops its own dynamic, and with this team we have an answer to almost every possible scenario.”
