Remco Evenepoel seals blockbuster transfer to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe
The Belgian star has put pen to paper on a contract with the German squad terminating his contract with Soudal-QuickStep, one year early starting from January 1 2026.

Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe have announced the signing of Remco Evenepoel from Soudal-QuickStep in what is set to be a major multi-year deal beginning from the 2026 season. It has been one of the most spoken-about transfer rumours in recent seasons, but the move has finally come to fruition after much speculation.
With his current contract with Soudal–QuickStep running until the end of next year, an agreement for the move was required from all parties — and that agreement has now been reached, with the Belgian star set to join the German team at the start of next season.
In a press release on Tuesday, Soudal–QuickStep stated: "Representatives of Remco informed the team’s management that he did not wish to discuss an extension of his current agreement, which expires at the end of 2026. After taking some time to consult with our sponsors and partners, the team’s ownership and management have decided that it is in best interest of everyone to agree that Remco can move at the end of the current 2025 season."
Evenepoel will make the switch after seven successful seasons with the Belgian team, whom he joined straight from the junior ranks. Across his spell with the team, Evenepoel claimed 64 professional wins, including the Vuelta a España, three Liège-Bastogne-Liège's, two Tour de France stages, plus a podium finish. Also in that time frame, Evenepoel became Olympic and World Champion in both the time trial and road race.
The announcement follows earlier indications that Evenepoel had reached personal terms with the team, as well as reports from Ciro Scognamiglio that a multi-year agreement had been reached that would see him join the team in 2026.
The move will see Evenepoel become one of Red Bull BORA-hansgrohe's star riders alongside Primož Roglič and Florian Lipowitz.
“Remco stands for ambition. He doesn’t just want to ride – he wants to shape cycling,” said Ralph Denk, CEO of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe in a team press release on Tuesday “He brings not only exceptional athletic talent, but also a remarkable mindset. His determination, professionalism, and relentless drive to succeed are truly inspiring.
With the arrival of Remco Evenepoel, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe will see further additions as his former Soudal-Quickstep teammate Mattia Cattaneo also is set to join, as is directeur sportif Klaas Lodewyck, soigneur David Geeroms, and mechanic Dario Kloek. Heading out the door is Rolf Aldag, departing his role as chief of sports at the team, and he will be replaced by former Belgian national coach Sven Vanthourenhout.
