Rohan Dennis accuses media of 'false narrative' in statement on tragedy
Rohan Dennis has publicly responded to ongoing media scrutiny, strongly disputing how events surrounding the death of his wife, Melissa Hoskins, have been portrayed.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the Australian former rider said he felt forced to address what he considers a distorted version of events that continues to circulate. “Yes, it was an accident,” he wrote, emphasising there was never any intent to cause harm. “I loved Melissa. Hurting her was never something I wanted.”
Hoskins died in late 2023 following an incident outside their home in Adelaide. Dennis, who was behind the wheel, later accepted partial responsibility and received a suspended sentence.
He rejected suggestions of violence, stating he had never been physically aggressive during disagreements. According to Dennis, coverage has unfairly framed him in a damaging light.
The Australian also accused sections of the media of crossing boundaries, particularly where his family is concerned. He described instances of being followed and approached in ways that he says have caused distress to his children.
“They claim to care about the kids, but their actions say otherwise,” he said, pointing to repeated intrusions and what he called misleading reporting.
Dennis also addressed speculation about the nature of the incident, saying there has never been any legal basis to suggest the vehicle was used deliberately as a weapon.
He ended his message with a clear request for privacy, urging media outlets to stop contacting him and his family.
