Tadej Pogacar Foundation donates €100,000 after devastating storm hits hometown of Komenda
More than 150 homes and other buildings were damaged by a devastating storm in Komenda, prompting the Tadej Pogačar Foundation to pledge €100,000 to affected families in the Slovenian cycling star’s hometown.

The storm struck in early June and caused extensive damage across the municipality, leaving many families facing major repairs and an uncertain recovery.
Funds will be transferred to the Municipality of Komenda, which will distribute the money among the hardest hit households. According to the foundation, the contribution marks the first phase of its support for the local community.
Additional fundraising initiatives are also being launched. The shoes worn by Pogačar during his victorious ride at the 2026 Milano-Sanremo will be auctioned, with all proceeds going directly to families affected by the storm.
Further funds will be raised through an auction of the shoes Pogačar wore during his victory at the 2026 Milano-Sanremo. All proceeds will go directly to families affected by the storm.
The foundation will also use the Pogi Challenge to generate additional financial support. The cycling festival, held over three days in and around Komenda, brings together professional riders, recreational cyclists, families and fans.
It begins with Pogačar competing in a criterium through the streets of his hometown. The second day focuses on families and younger riders, including the Junior Pogi Challenge, before the festival concludes with a recreational ride from Komenda towards Krvavec.
Participants will have the opportunity to test themselves on Pogačar’s home climb and attempt to reach the summit before the four time Tour de France winner.
Through the initial donation, the auction and the Pogi Challenge, the foundation hopes to provide support beyond the immediate aftermath of the storm while raising awareness of the scale of the damage.
Pogačar grew up in Komenda and has retained a close connection with the town. His foundation supports community projects and assists people facing difficult and unexpected circumstances.
