Talented Piganzoli joins Visma | Lease a Bike for 2026
Italian climbing talent Davide Piganzoli will join Team Visma | Lease a Bike for the next three seasons from Team Polti VisitMalta, as the 23-year-old aims to develop his potential as a general classification rider.

Despite his young age, Piganzoli has already established himself as a promising stage race specialist, with two Giro d'Italia appearances resulting in 13th and 14th place finishes overall in the general classification. The Italian has also claimed victory at the 2024 Tour of Antalya, winning both a stage and the general classification. In the 2023 Tour de l'Avenir, Piganzoli finished 3rd in the general classification behind Giulio Pellizzari and Isaac del Toro.
"Davide is a rider in whom we see a lot of potential," said Head of Racing Grischa Niermann in the Visma press release. "He will initially strengthen our Grand Tour squad in a supporting role, but he will definitely have opportunities of his own as well. We want to grow with him to the next level as a GC rider, and we're happy he chose us and our project."
Piganzoli, currently in his third year as a professional after coming through the Kometa (Team Polti VisitMalta) programme, he views the move to the Dutch WorldTeam as a significant career progression. The young climber will initially bolster the team's Grand Tour squad while receiving opportunities to develop his own GC ambitions.
"This is a big step in my career," adds Piganzoli in the press release. "I'm excited to race for a new team and to meet all the new teammates and staff. I was really drawn to the project at Team Visma | Lease a Bike because I believe I can truly continue developing here as a GC rider. There's so much expertise in this team: experienced riders, top equipment, strong support staff, and more. Step by step, I want to keep growing as a general classification rider."
The signing continues Team Visma | Lease a Bike's strategy of recruiting young talent with the potential to develop into future Grand Tour contenders as they have done previously with riders such as Primož Roglič and Jonas Vingegaard, who Visma developed into talented grand tour riders.
