The glamour of the Tour: Uno-X brothers sleep on balcony after grim hotel discovery
Tobias and Anders Halland Johannessen found an unconventional place to spend the night during the Tour de France: the balcony of their hotel room.

The Uno-X Mobility riders moved their mattresses outside after deciding that the conditions indoors were not particularly inviting. Tobias shared the improvised sleeping arrangement on Instagram, showing the Norwegian brothers lying beneath the open sky.
“Improvise. Adapt. Overcome,” he wrote.
“The inside of the hotel: questionable. The outside: reallyniiiice.”
He finished the post with the hashtag “#itshardtobeacyclist”.
Anders responded with a more reflective take on the situation, writing: “Sharing room with everyone in the world who sleeps outside this night 🥰.”
The balcony setup was not the first glimpse the brothers had given of their accommodation. After reports emerged that UAE Team Emirates-XRG were staying in a hotel without air conditioning, Anders posted a video from the Uno-X room.
The footage showed dust, cobwebs and other signs that the room had not received the most thorough cleaning. His accompanying message was simple: “Could be worse, this is ours 🤣.”
The brothers appeared to take the situation in good humour, sharing the improvised setup on social media. It offered a glimpse of the less polished side of life at the Tour, where teams have little control over their accommodation. Hotels are generally allocated by race organiser ASO, meaning standards can vary considerably from one night to the next.
