Unibet Rose Rockets confirm rider contract termination following provisional UCI suspension
In September, Carboni was provisionally suspended by the UCI after the governing body had detected abnormalities in his biological passport. Carboni was also suspended by his team, the Unibet Rose Rockets in relation to this discovery.

The Unibet Rose Rockets have made the decision to terminate the contract of Giovanni Carboni after conducting an internal review following the Italian’s provisional suspension by the UCI and team.
On Saturday, the Rockets released a statement confirming that Carboni would no longer be a part of the team going forward.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to terminate our collaboration with Giovanni Carboni early,” said the Unibet Rose Rockets statement.
“The decision follows notification received on September 11, 2025, regarding a provisional suspension issued by the UCI for facts pending investigation prior to his arrival on our team on January 1, 2025. Upon receiving this information, we initiated a dialogue with the rider,” the statement added.
The Rockets established that Carboni had broken key values and principles that remain integral to the team. “Notwithstanding the presumption of innocence regarding the UCI matter, our internal review confirmed a violation of the rider’s duty of transparency and loyalty.”
As members of the Movement for Credible Cycling (MPCC), the team illustrated that they were committed to anti-doping principles, confirming that they would launch their own internal examination while cooperating with authorities. The Rockets reaffirmed its commitment to the MPCC in its most recent statement also.
“While this decision stands apart from UCI’s disciplinary process, it underlines our uncompromising commitment to integrity, transparency and open communication, in line with our values and our status as an MPCC member.”
Carboni signed with the Rockets in 2025, having most notably raced for Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè, where he enjoyed a brief spell in 2nd overall and as leader of the youth classification at the Giro d’Italia in 2019. The Italian’s final race for the team was the GP Industria & Artigianato where he finished 26th.
