Uno-X rider Simon Dalby escapes life-threatening incident thanks to his parents
Uno-X rider Simon Dalby narrowly avoided tragedy after suffering two blood clots in his brain. His parents reacted instantly, bringing him to hospital before the situation became critical. Team doctor Rory Nolan explained that their quick response likely saved his life.

The 22-year-old Uno-X rider was taken to hospital last week after suddenly feeling unwell during dinner with his parents. According to team doctor Rory Nolan, that moment proved crucial.
“Simon noticed some weakness in his arms while eating with his parents,” Nolan told Feltet.dk. “They immediately took him to the local hospital, where doctors found two small blood clots in his brain. The treatment was started right away, and he felt almost normal again soon after.”
Nolan explained that the rapid reaction from Dalby’s parents made all the difference. “Two blood clots in the brain are of course serious, but it could have been much worse. His parents responded immediately, and he received treatment without delay. That was absolutely vital in a situation like this.”
The Uno-X doctor said Dalby risked losing mobility or speech if the clots hadn’t been treated in time. “If a clot isn’t removed quickly, it can affect movement in the arms or legs, speech, or cognition, depending on which part of the brain is affected,” Nolan added.
Dalby spent four days in hospital before returning home. Although his overall prognosis is good, the cause of the incident is still being investigated. “It’s still early in the process, but his prospects look positive. We’re now focusing on finding out exactly why it happened,” said Nolan.
Uno-X Mobility confirmed in a statement on social media that Dalby is recovering under specialist supervision. “Thanks to his parents’ quick response and the excellent care at Regionshospitalet Gødstrup, he is now experiencing only mild symptoms and is undergoing specialist rehabilitation,” the team wrote.
Dalby has been part of the Uno-X setup since 2022, when he joined the development squad. This year, he stepped up to the ProTour team and claimed victory on Stage 3 of the Course de la Paix Grand Prix Jeseníky, finishing second overall.
