Vanthourenhout confirms Red Bull role amid Evenepoel speculation
On Tuesday, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe announced Rolf Aldag's departure and former Belgian national coach Sven Vanthourenhout has since confirmed reports that he will join as the German's replacement.

Former Belgian national coach Sven Vanthourenhout has confirmed that he will join the management team at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. The Belgian is set to join the team on August 1 as a replacement for Rolf Aldag, whose departure as head of sport was announced by the team on Tuesday.
“I will indeed be joining Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe straight away,” Vanthourenhout told Sporza. “I’ll be involved in all departments, from the development team to the WorldTour team.”
Vanthourenhout left his role as Belgian national coach last winter and he recently indicated that he had reached an agreement to join a WorldTour team. Sporza, Het Nieuwsblad and Het Laatste Nieuws all reported that Vanthourenhout would join Red Bull, but the Belgian declined to name his new team at that juncture.
Red Bull announced on Tuesday that Aldag will leave the team on July 31, having arrived at the start of the 2022 season. Aldag’s arrival coincided with the departure of Peter Sagan and a shift in the team’s emphasis from the Classics to the Grand Tours.
They secured overall victory at the 2022 Giro d’Italia through Jai Hindley, while Primoz Roglic won the 2024 Vuelta a España and Florian Lipowitz placed third at this year’s Tour de France.
Red Bull have been heavily linked with a move for Remco Evenepoel in recent weeks. The Olympic champion is under contract with Soudal-QuickStep until the end of 2026, but La Gazzetta dello Sport and La Dernière Heure last week reported that an agreement had been reached for a transfer to Red Bull.
