Video: Campenaerts shows his class by helping former teammate De Lie
Visma | Lease a Bike rider Victor Campenaerts showed his class during stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia. On the Borovets Pass, the Belgian helped his former teammate Arnaud De Lie when he found himself in difficulty, taking one of his bottles to lighten his load and even literally giving him a helping hand.

The Belgians were teammates during De Lie’s first three years as a professional, before Campenaerts moved to Visma | Lease a Bike ahead of the 2025 season, where he has since developed into one of Jonas Vingegaard’s key lieutenants.
First, Campenaerts took De Lie’s bottle, allowing his former teammate to carry less weight. Moments later, he even gave him a hand-sling, a move more commonly seen on the track in the madison.
It was a rare scene, but a classy one. Still, the gesture did not change much in the moment, as De Lie was dropped again later on. After the climb, Josh Giddings and Jonas Rutsch brought him back towards the peloton, potentially giving the Belgian another chance to contest the sprint.
