According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Visma | Lease a Bike have extended Victor Campenaerts' contract, and their sights are set on a former Grand Tour champion to replace the void left by the recently retired Simon Yates.

Campenaerts, who joined the Dutch team for 2025, has a contract which currently runs through 2027, but according to Het Laatste Nieuws, the 34-year-old Belgian has extended it until the end of 2028.

Since joining the team, Campenaerts has started three Grand Tours, including supporting Jonas Vingegaard to victory at the Vuelta a España last September. Currently riding the Giro d’Italia, Campenaerts will be looking to support the Dane in his quest to complete the Grand Tour set and become just the eighth rider to do so.

Meanwhile, Het Laatste Nieuws have also highlighted the Dutch team’s interest in signing Jai Hindley for the 2027 season.

The 2022 Giro champion is currently under contract with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe through 2026, with reports stating that Visma are in concrete talks with the Australian.

Hindley has been with the German team since 2022, joining from the then Team DSM. Beyond his Giro victory in 2022, Hindley has also won a stage and worn yellow at the Tour de France in 2023, eventually finishing 7th, and narrowly missed out on joining Vingegaard on the podium in the Vuelta last September, ending 4th.

With the retirement of Simon Yates shortly before the 2026 season kicked off, Visma | Lease a Bike have been naturally on the hunt for a replacement for the British rider, a two-time Grand Tour champion.
