VolkerWessels men's cycling team to fold after 2026 season
VolkerWessels Cycling Team will close its men's programme at the end of the 2026 season, the Dutch UCI Continental outfit confirmed in a press release. The team's women's programme, which previously helped develop Demi Vollering and Lorena Wiebes, will continue under new ownership.

The closure has been the subject of speculation for several weeks. Wielerflits had reported that an end of season decision was being considered, with the team having already removed races such as the ZLM Tour from its 2026 calendar.
General manager Marnix Drysdale declined to comment when the rumours first surfaced in early June.
A press release issued by the team on Sunday confirmed the closure and included comments from board chairman Gerald Paalman.
"The decision to discontinue the men's team was difficult, but we made it carefully. We look back on ten wonderful years in which performance and talent development went hand in hand," said Paalman. We started with a small team of promising young talents. We grew into a professional team with success in both Dutch and international races at UCI Continental level. We are proud of what we have built together with riders, staff, sponsors, and supporters."
The squad's most recent major result came on 17 October 2025, when Dutch rider Timo de Jong claimed his first professional victory on stage 4 of the Tour of Holland. De Jong attacked early in the day from a seven rider breakaway and stayed out front throughout the 158km stage from Emmen to the Col du VAM.
He beat Lukáš Kubiš of Unibet Tietema Rockets and Christophe Laporte of Visma | Lease a Bike in a three rider sprint at the summit. It was the 38th victory in the history of VolkerWessels Cycling Team.
Throughout its existence, the men's programme offered riders a platform to take the next step in their careers.
Tim Marsman spent a single season with VolkerWessels in 2025, but it proved enough to earn him a move to Alpecin-Premier Tech. After joining from Metec Solarwatt, the Dutchman finished second overall at the Tour du Loir et Cher and fourth at Olympia's Tour, where he won the opening individual time trial.
De Jong followed a similar path. The longest serving rider on the team joined permanently in 2020, and his Tour of Holland stage victory helped him secure a contract with Team Picnic PostNL for 2026.
The women's team is the better known of the organisation's two programmes. Racing as Parkhotel Valkenburg before its rebranding, the squad helped develop Demi Vollering, Lorena Wiebes and several other riders who later joined leading WorldTour teams.
WielerFlits reports that the women's team will continue in 2027 with new investment from Reggeborgh and is expected to race as Team Reggeborgh.
