Vuelta a España 2025: Standings after stage 6 - Træen in red as Vingegaard holds fire
Torstein Træen (Bahrain Victorious) is the new leader of the Vuelta a España after he placed second behind fellow escapee Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) on stage 6 to Pal in Andorra. Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) lost the red jersey but remains the best-placed of the GC favourites on a day that saw Juan Ayuso’s challenge suffer a heavy blow.

Træen is the new maillot rojo with a lead of 31 seconds over Bruno Armirail (Decathlon-AG2R) and 1:01 over Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS-Astana), who were also part of the break of the day. He is third Norwegian to lead the race after Thor Hushovd and Odd Christian Eiking.
Vingegaard now lies fifth at 2:33, with Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) is sixth at 2:41 and Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) seventh at 2:42. Ben O'Connor and Mikel Landa both conceded almost half a minute to their fellow podium contenders, while Ayuso GC hopes disappeared when he was dropped 6km from the summit.
Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) remains in the green jersey of points leader, while Vine is now at the top of the king of the mountains classification. Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) takes over from Ayuso in the white jersey, while UAE Team Emirates-XRG top the teams classification.
