Torstein Træen (Bahrain-Victorious) defended his red jersey on the slopes of the Cerler climb finishing in the main group of GC contenders as Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) powered to victory from the breakaway on stage 7 of the Vuelta a España.

Træen leads the Vuelta by the same margin of 2:33 over Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) in 2nd, and 2:41 over João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) in 3rd.

The Norwegian rider will have a second day in the red jersey as the race heads to Zaragoza on Saturday.
