Tour de France stage 21 profile
The traditional final stage parade around the capital city is back after a year's hiatus, but this year there is a twist. To mark the 50th anniversary of this iconic finish, and inspired by the 2024 Olympic road race in Paris, which saw over 500,000 fans on the roadside, the Tour de France peloton will climb the Montmartre hill.
Whilst this stage has been a dead certainty to end up in a bunch sprint, three ascents of the Montmartre hill are likely to rip the traditional stage 21 script up this year. The climb is 1.1 kilometres long at 5.9% and with the final ascent coming 6 kilometres from the finish line, the Tour de France is still in play in all senses.

What to expect
Who knows what to expect? After all, this is a first for the race and uncharted territory.
The three ascents of the Montmartre will certainly provide a launchpad for attacks if riders are willing to take it, but even the fight for position on the climbs could cause some of the sprinters to struggle.
Also, with the final ascent coming only 6km from the finish, it will be difficult for one team to control things if attacks occur, so a roll of the dice from a courageous rider has just as good of chance of working here as it does on any other occasion.
Tour de France: Results and classification standings after stage 20
Tadej Pogačar is one stage away from winning a fourth Tour de France title.
The race leader's current advantage is a significant one. 4:24 over Jonas Vingegaard in 2nd, and 11:09 to Florian Lipowitz in third. Lipowitz holds a margin of 1:03 over Oscar Onley in the 4th and in the youth classification.
The points and mountains classifications are also concluded as long as the riders cross the finish with Jonathan Milan taking green and Pogačar taking polka-dots, whilst Visma | Lease a Bike leads the team classification.
