Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe have announced their squad for the 2025 Tour de France, with Primož Roglič hoping his luck can finally turn at the biggest race of all.
"When Primož Roglič lines up for a Grand Tour, the podium is always the goal," said Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe chief of sports Rolf Aldag in a statement released on Friday. Roglič will be aiming to turn his horrendous luck around at the Tour where in his last two starts in (2024 and 2022) he did not finish the race.
Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe also combine Grand Tour experience with a crop of fresh and hungry young talent. Florian Lipowtiz, Mick van Dijke and Laurence Pithie all make their Tour debuts, while they are joined in the line-up by Jordi Meeus, Gianni Moscon, Danny van Poppel and Aleksandr Vlasov. Moscon obtains his role as road captain after he also was the road captain in the 2025 Giro d’Italia.
Vlasov's season has been "specifically structured to peak during the second half of the Tour," according to the team’s statement, while Jordi Meeus (a previous Tour stage winner in 2023) comes into the Tour in fine form, with two WorldTour victories so far in 2025 at the inaugural Copenhagen sprint and a stage win at the Tour de Suisse, respectively.
The Belgian will have one of the strongest lead-out men in the Tour at his disposal in van Poppel, and the duo are expecting to strike a brilliant partnership in the bunch sprints of the Tour.
Their young guns for the Tour include, New Zealander Laurence Pithie, who hasn’t quite lived up to his pre-transfer expectations in 2025 after his move from French outfit Groupama – FDJ. Pithie will be looking to get himself involved in the more rugged terrain sprints.
Much attention will focus on Lipowitz, of course, after his strong GC performance at the Dauphiné. The German already impressed in support of Roglič at last year's Vuelta a España, where he finished seventh overall.
"We're heading into this Tour extremely well prepared," Aldag said. "Every stage has been reconned, analysed, and simulated. Our team strength will be especially critical in the first half of the race – five riders are dedicated to guiding our three climbers safely toward the Pyrenees. In the high mountains, individual class will make the difference."
The team has implemented a highly individualised preparation approach for all riders, with Aldag noting: "With Primož, we have the luxury of having one of the most successful Grand Tour riders in our team. He's focused, motivated, and in top form."
