Jonathan Milan has established himself as one of the most powerful sprinters in professional cycling – a fast-finishing specialist with roots on the track and a growing list of victories on the road. Early life and rise through the ranks
Born in 2000 in Buja, in Italy’s Friuli region, Jonathan Milan first made his mark as a junior on the track. His breakthrough came in 2021 when he helped Italy win the gold medal in team pursuit at the Tokyo Olympics, setting a new world record in the process. Milan made his Giro debut in 2023 and immediately made headlines by winning stage 2 in a mass sprint. Over three weeks, he consistently finished in the top three, earning the maglia ciclamino (points jersey) at his first attempt. One year later, in 2024, he returned even stronger: three stage wins, four second places and a second consecutive points jersey confirmed his place among the world’s elite sprinters.
Tour de France green jersey (2025)
In 2025, Milan debuted at the Tour de France with Lidl–Trek and once again delivered. He claimed two stage wins, wore the green jersey from the Pyrenees to Paris, and became the first Italian since Alessandro Petacchi to win the points classification. It was a breakthrough that cemented his status as one of the most dominant fast men in the peloton.
