Tour de France green jersey winners: full list (1953–2024)

Since 1953, when the iconic green jersey was first introduced, this page presents a definitive year-by-year list of Tour de France points classification winners.

No rider has worn the green jersey more often than Peter Sagan, who claimed the maillot vert a record seven times between 2012 and 2019. In doing so, he surpassed Erik Zabel, the German sprinter who dominated the classification with six wins in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

When it comes to national success, Belgium tops the all-time leaderboard with 21 green jerseys, reflecting a rich tradition of sprinting talent across generations. France follows with 9 wins, just ahead of Germany’s 8, thanks largely to Zabel’s run.
