Alberto Bettiol delivered a breakaway masterclass on stage 13 of the Giro d’Italia, soloing to victory in Verbania after attacking over the final categorised climb. The XDS Astana rider proved strongest from a 15-man move, powering past Andreas Leknessund near the top of Ungiasca before holding his advantage to the finish. His win continued Astana’s dream Giro and marked Bettiol’s second career stage victory at the race.
