Igor Arrieta claimed his first Grand Tour stage win after a chaotic, rain-soaked finale in Potenza. The Spaniard crashed on a wet descent, chased back after Afonso Eulálio also went down, then recovered again after going off course inside the final two kilometres. Eulálio missed out on the stage victory but took the overall race lead at the end of a dramatic day.
