Route
The 2026 edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège follows a familiar pattern, covering nearly 260 kilometres from Liège to Bastogne and back. The early part of the race is relatively steady, with long stretches between climbs allowing the peloton to settle.
The intensity builds after the midpoint. From the Côte de Wanne onward, climbs come in quick succession and gradually wear riders down. The steep Côte de Stockeu adds a first real test before a demanding sequence leads into the decisive phase.
La Redoute remains the key moment, where attacks are expected from the strongest contenders. The race stays difficult after the summit, with more climbing and little chance to recover. The final selection is often shaped on Roche aux Faucons before a technical descent and fast run into Liège decide the outcome.

Favourites
The main focus is on Tadej Pogačar, who arrives fresh and fully focused on this race. His recent dominance and explosive style make him the rider to beat, especially on the decisive climbs.
Remco Evenepoel is the closest challenger, coming in well prepared and motivated to take on Pogačar directly. If he can match the accelerations on the key climbs, he has a strong chance.
Behind them, several riders are aiming for the podium. Paul Seixas continues to impress, while Giulio Ciccone and Mattias Skjelmose offer Lidl Trek multiple options. Others like Lenny Martinez, Santiago Buitrago and Romain Grégoire add depth and could take advantage if the favourites hesitate.
