Remco Evenepoel overcame a poorly timed bike change to win the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa for a record fourth time. He rejoined the leaders before attacking on the final Murgil climb, with only Richard Carapaz able to follow. Evenepoel then beat Carapaz in a two rider sprint, maintaining his perfect winning record in the race.

Route
The 2026 San Sebastián Klasikoa covers 221.2 kilometres and packs 4,284 metres of climbing into a demanding Basque route on Saturday.
Jaizkibel should begin to reduce the peloton before Erlaitz provides the first major selection. The 3.8 kilometre climb averages 11 per cent and reaches gradients above 13 per cent, despite coming 42.5 kilometres from the finish. Riders then pass through San Sebastián before tackling Murgil Tontorra, the final climb.
At two kilometres and 9.8 per cent, with ramps of 18.5 per cent, it offers the last launchpad before the descent to the line.

Favourites
Remco Evenepoel starts as the favourite after finishing second at the Tour de France and winning two stages. The three time San Sebastián winner can attack from distance or settle the race in a small sprint.
Defending champion Giulio Ciccone should be his closest challenger, while Giulio Pellizzari gives Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe another strong option.
Lenny Martinez and Alex Aranburu also suit the steep finale. Mauro Schmid, Quinn Simmons, Lennert Van Eetvelt and Matteo Jorgenson are among the riders who could profit if the favourites hesitate.
