Surf Coast Classic - Elite Women's Race 2026
28.01
The 2026 Women’s Surf Coast Classic was set for Wednesday, January 28, a fast 157km race from Lorne to Torquay where crosswinds often decide the script. Instead, it has been cancelled, along with Thursday’s men’s race. Organisers cited heightened bushfire danger and volatile weather in the Great Ocean Road region. After talks with Victoria Police and emergency services, the priority was keeping evacuation routes clear and resources focused on public safety.
Route
From the start in Lorne, the route heads inland for a demanding 10km climb toward Dean Marsh. It then rolls through the roads of Surf Coast Shire and its country townships, before the race accelerates on a gently descending run back into Torquay, where a handful of key corners can shape the lead out. After crossing Spring Creek and dropping down Anderson Street, the peloton turns left onto The Esplanade for a sprint finish along the beachfront.
