Route
The 2026 Tour of Oman unfolds over five varied stages, showcasing Oman’s diverse terrain from coastal plains to dramatic mountain finishes. The race gets underway with a 171 km stage from the Ministry of Tourism to Bimmah Sink Hole, a flat opener that suits sprinters and fast men looking to grab early honours.
Stage 2 stretches 191.5 km from Al Rustaq Fort to Yitti Hills, introducing the peloton to rolling terrain and testing riders with several punchy climbs near the finish that could delight breakaways and aggressive puncheurs.
The third stage covers 191 km from Samail to Eastern Mountain, where a summit finish awaits at Eastern Mountain’s slopes. This stage is likely to be the first decisive factor for the general classification.
Racing moves back towards the coast on Stage 4 with 146 km from Al Sawadi Beach to Sohar, offering another chance for fast men to shine.
The finale on Stage 5 is a classic Tour of Oman challenge: 156 km from Nizwa to Jabal Al Akhdhar (Green Mountain). The relentless climb up Green Mountain, with steep gradients reaching over 13%–14%, often decides the overall standings and promises a dramatic end to the week.

Favourites
Adam Yates is the obvious yardstick. UAE Team Emirates-XRG have looked sharp early in 2026, and Yates has the engine to keep it under control on the final climb.
Sepp Kuss (Visma | Lease a Bike) is the main danger. The steady, steep gradients suit him, and if it turns into a straight climbing fight he can stay close and then try to flip it late.
Valentin Paret-Peintre is a contender if he is on form. Soudal Quick-Step can play two other cards as well with Mauri Vansevenant and Junior Lecerf, while Einer Rubio is one to watch from Movistar.
Also worth noting: Harold Martín López (XDS Astana), and his teammates Lorenzo Fortunato and Cristián Rodríguez.
