At the E3 Saxo Classic, Mathieu van der Poel completed a hat-trick — but only just, surviving a desperate final kilometre as his chasers hesitated at the critical moment. Does this raise questions about his Tour of Flanders form? At Gent-Wevelgem, Van Aert and Van der Poel went clear together on the Kemmelberg in a rare head-to-head duel, before being swept up by the peloton near the line. Jasper Philipsen took the win.

At the Volta a Catalunya, Jonas Vingegaard was dominant from the first mountain stage onwards, winning on the Coll de Pal and the Santuari de Queralt to seal the GC ahead of Evenepoel and Lipowitz.

And with Dwars Door Vlaanderen on Wednesday, we look at the key favourites and five riders who could surprise.
