The full schedule for the 2026 UCI Road World Championships

The 2026 UCI Road World Championships take place in Montréal from September 20 to September 27, marking the return of the event to the Canadian city 52 years after it first hosted the Worlds in 1974.

The eight day programme features 13 events across the Elite, Under 23 and Junior categories for men and women, with individual time trials opening the week before the road races take centre stage.

The championships begin on Sunday, September 20 with the Elite Women’s individual time trial at 09:00 local time (EDT). The women will race over 39.2 kilometres on a course featuring 220 metres of elevation gain through Montréal.

Later that day, the Elite Men take on the same 39.2 kilometre course, beginning at 12:45 (EDT). Remco Evenepoel enters the championships as the reigning world champion in the discipline after taking the rainbow jersey in Kigali in 2025.

Day two on September 21 belongs to the Under 23 riders. The Women Under 23 individual time trial gets underway at 09:00 (EDT) over 20.3 kilometres, before the Men Under 23 tackle a 31.3 kilometre course from 12:00 (EDT).

September 22 is the busiest day of time trial action. The team time trial mixed relay starts at 08:30 (EDT) and covers 40.6 kilometres, before the Junior Men race their 20.3 kilometre individual time trial at 12:15 (EDT). The Junior Women conclude the day with a 10.7 kilometre effort beginning at 15:15 (EDT).

There is no racing on Wednesday, September 23, before the road races begin the following day.

On September 24, the Women Under 23 open the road race programme at 09:00 (EDT). Their race covers 134 kilometres around Montréal, with ten laps of the demanding 13.4 kilometre circuit around Mount Royal.

The Junior Men take on the same 134 kilometre distance later that day, with their race beginning at 13:30 (EDT).

September 25 begins with the Men Under 23 road race at 09:00 (EDT). They face 174.2 kilometres and 13 laps of the Montréal circuit. The Junior Women then race over 80.4 kilometres from 14:15 (EDT).

The Elite Women take centre stage on Saturday, September 26. Their road race starts in Brossard at 09:00 (EDT) before heading towards Montréal and finishing with eight laps of the Mount Royal circuit.

The race covers 180.4 kilometres and features 2,570 metres of elevation gain. Canadian Magdeleine Vallieres won the rainbow jersey in Kigali in 2025 and enters the Montréal edition as the reigning world champion.

The championships conclude on Sunday, September 27 with the Elite Men’s road race.

Starting at 09:00 (EDT), the peloton will tackle 273.7 kilometres and 3,803 metres of climbing. The route begins in Brossard and travels through the Montérégie region before crossing into Montréal, where 12 laps of the Mount Royal circuit await.

Tadej Pogačar won the Elite Men’s road race in Kigali in 2025, but the Slovenian will not be able to defend his rainbow jersey in Montréal after his season ending crash at the Vuelta a España.
