Critérium du Dauphiné: Results and standings after stage 4

Stage 5 of the Dauphiné is a 182.6 km stage beginigning in Saint-Priest and finishing in Mâcon. The riders will tackle 1605m of elevation is in store for the riders to tackle, with the majority appearing in the final half of the stage. Four categorised climbs are on the menu today with them being no greater than a cat.3. The stage will begin at 12:55 CET and finish around 17:10 CET.

About the time trial yesterday Pogačar said: "It was a pretty nice time trial."

The stage is underway on a sunny day, temperatures are around 32 degrees currently. A hot day!

The wind on the stage today is sitting between 15-20 km/h. After the final climb, the breakaway, if there is one, will face a tricky headwind to the finish.

Jordan Labrosse (Decathlon AG2R), Pierre Thierry (Arkéa - B&B Hotels) and Enzo Leijnse (Team Picnic PostNL) have formed a trio at the front of the race. Their gap sits at 55" with 179 km remaining.

The trio have a gap of a minute as now back in the peloton, Cofidis also work to chase.

The trio extend their advantage over the peloton to 2'20" and Bastien Tronchon drops back to the peloton. 

Lidl-Trek are setting the pace behind to set-up their man, Jonathan Milan for the stage victory. Gap sits at 1'45", 150 km remain.

Mathieu Burgaudeau and Mattéo Vercher both of Total Energies and Tobias Foss (Ineos Grenadiers) have formed a chasing group. They are 40" behind the front 5 in which the front 5 have a gap of 1'05" over the peloton. 78 km remain.

The Dane, Johan Price Pejtersen (Alpecin Deceuninck) has abandoned the race, speedt recovery to him.

Pascal Ackermann has crashed and it looks like it is his race over.

It's chaos for riders to come back on through narrow roads, some team cars nearly crash.

The previously mentioned chasing group of: Mühlberger, Baudin and Foss, were caught by the peloton. The breakaway has a gap of 1'36" with 45 km to go.

The intermediate sprint of the day, the Col du Bois Clair, is coming up. It will be contested by the breakaway. 

Lidl-Trek still work hard on the front of the bunch as the gap sits at 1'17 with 41 km to go.

With 33 km remaining the gap is at 1'12".

The Côte des Quatre Vents is the remaining climb of the day, which the riders are about to tackle.

The main contenders are being positioned towards the front of the peloton.

Alpecin-Deceuninck take control of the peloton.

The Italian is still hanging on, on the Côte des Quatre Vents.

The gap now comes under a minute. Pierre Thierry has been dropped from the break.

Andreas Leknessund now on the front of the bunch, and is thinning it out!

Jonathan Milan has been distanced but not by much, this effort on the climb will have taken it out of him though.

Benjamin Thomas takes a lot of risks in the descent!

He's made it back on, the gap to the break is at 20".

It's a relatively flat approach in the last 15 km with a little rise.
