11 fractures and collapsed lung for Timo Roosen after GP Monseré crash
The Dutchman has provided an update following his crash at the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré, confirming he is dealing with multiple fractures and a collapsed lung.

Roosen shared details of the crash and its aftermath on Instagram, detailing the extent of the damage. “So… I had a rough crash at GP Monseré. It resulted in 11 fractures and a collapsed lung,” he said. “Big thanks to AZ Delta Hospital in Roeselare for taking good care of me for the past days, in a great atmosphere and in a funny dialect.”
The 33-year-old has since been discharged and is now returning home to begin his recovery, though he made clear that the process will take time. “Time to go home, recovery will take some time,” he explained. “My collarbone is back in place and the drain is out. The six ribs and four projections of vertebrae in my spine will need time to heal and become less painful.”
While the immediate medical concerns appear to be under control, the scale of the injuries suggests Roosen faces a significant rehabilitation period.
A timeline for his return remains unclear, but the setback is a significant blow, as the Dutchman, a six-time UCI race winner, including the national title in 2021, had been expected to be one of the pillars of the Classics squad at Team Picnic PostNL, a role he will now be unable to fulfil.
