2026 Vuelta a España classifications after stage 2: Pogacar retains red
Here's a look at the leaders of each major classification and the daily prize winners at the 2026 Vuelta a España

Matthew Brennan (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) won stage 2 of the 2026 Vuelta a España, the 214.3km run from Monaco to Manosque, finishing ahead of Pau Miquel (Bahrain-Victorious) and Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG). The 20-year-old Briton took the win on his Grand Tour road stage debut, coming from behind after Wout van Aert's attack on the final climb had split the group.
Pogačar retains the red and green jersey after his prologue win in Monaco, where he beat Ethan Hayter (Soudal Quick-Step) by nine hundredths of a second. Van Aert is second overall at nine seconds, with Brennan up to third.
Brennan also takes the white jersey as leader of the young rider classification.
Hayter, who started the day nine hundredths off red, took bonus seconds at the intermediate sprint but was dropped on the rise to the line and lost 31 seconds.
