Barré's stellar form continues with solo victory on Lidl Deutschland Tour stage 1
The 26-year-old Frenchman claimed his second professional victory in Germany, less than two weeks after claiming his first in Poland

Louis Barré (Visma | Lease a Bike) soloed to uphill victory on stage 1 of the Lidl Deutschland Tour at Schwäbisch Hall.
The opening road stage proved to be an attritional affair. Though it held the potential for a sprint finish, the undulating route provided ample opportunities to attack and split the peloton.
Théo Hébert (TotalEnergies) and Wilco Kelderman (Visma | Lease a Bike) held an advantage of 25 seconds over the peloton as they reached the finish line for the first time with 12km remaining, but the duo were caught by a Lidl-Trek-led peloton with 8km remaining.
Barré and Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) powered clear with 5km remaining on an uphill rise towards the intermediate sprint, and the French duo opened a dangerous advantage over a selective chase group led by Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG)
After a short downhill section, the road kicked up once more inside the final 2km to the finish, and this saw Barré distance his compatriot to take his second professional victory, adding to his Tour de Pologne stage win.
Del Toro led home a group of five riders 16 seconds behind for second place, ahead of Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek), meaning Barré moves into the race lead.
How it unfolded
After the flag drop in Bad Orb, a three-man breakaway established itself, featuring Miguel Heidemann and Ole Theiler (Rembe | rad-net), and Ellande Larronde (Caja Rural Seguros-RGA).
While the trio cooperated seamlessly to build an advantage, the pace in the peloton intensified significantly as the race approached the Hermersberg climb, where the true action began to ignite, whittling the breakaway’s advantage.
The steep gradients provided a launchpad for attacks, and with 53km remaining just over the summit, race leader Del Toro went on the offensive. The Mexican champion quickly dragged himself and a selective group across to Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek), Florian Stork (Tudor) and Barré, who had already broken clear.
However, with the chasing peloton remaining within touching distance, the two groups eventually reunited.
This brief neutralisation triggered a chaotic sequence defined by a barrage of opportunistic counter-attacks, effectively spelling the end of the original breakaway with just over 40 kilometres to go.
Théo Hébert (TotalEnergies) seized the moment to launch a solo move, with the Frenchman quickly opening an advantage that maxed out at around 40 seconds.
With 35km to go, Max Walscheid (Lidl-Trek) launched a counter-attack from the peloton, but it was short-lived, as Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) accelerated on an uncategorised climb just over 1km later, which strung out the bunch once more, and allowed Dutch champion Wilco Kelderman (Visma | Lease a Bike) to fly across to the sole leader, Hébert.
As they crossed the 20-kilometre-to-go mark, the leading duo held a fragile 30-second advantage which wouldn't prove to be enough to hold clear.
