A van driver pulled out of a side road and onto the Coppa Bernocchi course, just behind the three-man breakaway, which was only 40 seconds ahead of the next group on the road.

There have been no reports that the van directly impacted the riders, though it marks another incident in a growing list where unauthorised vehicles have entered the course of a race.

The groups would eventually come back together for a bunch sprint in Legnano where Noa Isidore (Decathlon CMA CGM) claimed the victory ahead of Tommaso Dati (Team UKYO), who will race with XDS Astana in 2027.

Marijn van den Berg (EF Education-EasyPost) originally crossed the line in third, but was later relegated, with Orluis Aular (Movistar) taking the final spot on the podium.

Isidore had narrowly avoided a crash in the finale, which involved numerous riders, including Filippo Ganna (Netcompany-Ineos).

It marked the 22-year-old’s third victory since turning professional last season and the second consecutive French winner after Dorian Godon’s (Netcompany-Ineos) triumph in 2025.

While Isidore came away unscathed from the crash in the finale, others were not so fortunate. Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) suffered a right collarbone fracture and a composite fracture to the iliac wing.

Meanwhile, Andrea Raccagni (Soudal Quick-Step) suffered a fracture of the third cervical vertebra.
