Noa Isidore avoids late crash to streak to Coppa Bernocchi victory
The Frenchman claimed victory in the second leg of the Trittico Lombardo in Lissone after a finale that saw Filippo Ganna among the fallers.

Noa Isidore (Decathlon CMA CGM) claimed victory at the Coppa Bernocchi, beating Tommaso Dati (Team UKYO) and Marijn van der Berg (EF Education EasyPost).
Orluis Aular (Movistar) took fourth ahead of Alessandro Romele (XDS-Astana) and Dorion Godon (Netcompany-Ineos).
It was Decathlon’s second win in as many days at the Trittico Lombardo after Paul Lapeira won the Coppa Agostoni on Sunday afternoon. For Isidore, the sprint marked the third win of his career after a pair of victories at the Tour du Limousin this summer.
The finale was marred by a mass crash that saw Filippo Ganna (Netcompany-Ineos) among the fallers, with Isidore narrowly avoiding coming down in the incident.
The sprint took place after early escapees Sergio Samitier (Cofidis), Samuele Zoccarato (MBH Bank) and Ben Granger (Solution Tech Nippo) were swept up with 2km remaining. The trio had attacked shortly after the start in the company of Samuel Fernández (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA).
They built a lead of four minutes by the time they reached the finishing circuit over the Piccolo Stelvio with some 120km still to race, and they battled gamely to stay clear of the peloton on the laps around Lissone.
Their gap was 3:20 with 70km to go, but the situation changed dramatically with 50km to go when Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) sparked a chasing group with an attack on the Piccolo Stelvio.
Narváez was joined by Lorenzo Germani, Brieuc Rolland (Groupama-FDJ), Florian Stork (Tudor). (Groupama-FDJ United) and Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost), but despite that firepower they couldn’t quite close the gap to the escapees, despite closing to within a minute.
Out in front, the three survivors from the break retained a lead of 40 seconds into the final 10km, but the peloton had grown in size after a number of dropped fast men made their way back on. Powless and Ganna were prominent in leading the chase in the bunch of the approach to Lissone, and the break was swept up with 2km to go.
Result: Coppa Bernocchi
