Geoghegan Hart set for EF Education-EasyPost reboot in 2027
Daniel Benson has reported that Tao Geoghegan Hart will join EF Education-EasyPost in 2027, bringing an end to a three-year tenure at Lidl-Trek conditioned by the injuries sustained in his crash on the 2023 Giro d'Italia.

Tao Geoghegan Hart is set to continue his career with EF Education-EasyPost in 2027, according to a report by Daniel Benson.
The Briton has spent the past three seasons at Lidl-Trek, having joined the team from Ineos at the start of the 2024 campaign. His time at Lidl-Trek was conditioned by the lingering effects of the serious injuries he sustained in a crash on the 2023 Giro d’Italia.
In a report published on his Substack on Monday, Daniel Benson said Geoghegan Hart has agreed a switch to EF for 2027. Jonathan Vaughters' team has yet to announce the transfer formally.
Geoghegan Hart, who won the Giro in 2020, had been enjoying a striking resurgence in the early months of 2023. He won the Tour of the Alps and placed third at Tirreno-Adriatico in the build-up to that year’s Giro, and he lay third overall when he crashed out on stage 11 to Tortona.
He suffered a complex left femur fracture in the crash, and that Giro was his final race in Ineos colours before signing for Lidl-Trek.
Geoghegan Hart would race just one Grand Tour in his time at Lidl-Trek, lining out in the Vuelta a España at the end of his comeback season in 2024.
He claimed a promising third overall at last year’s Tour of Slovenia, but he was subsequently left out of the Tour de France team. He has compiled just 24 race days so far in 2026, with 19th overall at the Volta a Catalunya his best showing of the season.
The 31-year-old’s contract with Lidl-Trek expires at the end of this season, and he never seemed likely to remain with the team, which signed Juan Ayuso as its new Grand Tour leader last winter.
Lidl-Trek has since undergone a further series of changes following Luca Guercilena’s departure as general manager. Andy Schleck was promoted to CEO this summer, while Grischa Niermann has arrived from Visma Lease a Bike to join the management team.
It appears that Geoghegan Hart will now seek to reboot his career at EF Education-EasyPost, where his teammates in 2027 will include Ben Healy, Neilson Powless and Alex Baudin.
Richard Carapaz is also under contract with the team for 2027, though he has reportedly attracted interest from a number of teams and he did not field questions about his future at EF’s pre-Vuelta a España press conference.
