The 2020 winner was involved in a crash with 25km of the race remaining, and was the last rider remaining at the scene of the incident, in visible pain.

Marc Hirschi (Tudor) has suffered a fractured left collarbone following a crash in the closing stages of La Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday.

Hirschi had to abandon the race, and on Wednesday evening, the Swiss team confirmed that the 27-year-old suffered a fractured collarbone.

“Following his crash 25km from the finish of La Flèche Wallonne today, Marc has been diagnosed with a fracture of the left clavicle,” read an official statement by Tudor Pro Cycling. “X-ray examinations have ruled out any additional fractures.”

Tudor have also confirmed that Hirschi will undergo surgery, ruling him out of Liège-Bastogne-Liège on April 26.

“Due to the nature of the injury, he will undergo surgery tomorrow. We wish him a smooth recovery.”

This isn’t the first crash that Hirschi has suffered this Ardennes week. The Swiss rider crashed on the same corner where Matteo Jorgenson (Visma | Lease a Bike) broke his collarbone at the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday, and he also had to abandon there.

Hirschi wasn’t the only winner in the team’s line-up as three-time winner Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor) also featured. However, the two-time World Champion was dropped before Hirschi’s crash and also abandoned the race.

Fabian Weiss (Tudor) was the team’s highest placed finisher in 85th place.
