Jack Haig seals long-awaited move to Ineos Grenadiers
Ineos Grenadiers have confirmed the signing of Jack Haig on a two-year contract that will run through until the end of 2027. Having signed with Bahrain-Victorious in 2021, Haig enjoyed the heights of a third place finish at the Vuelta a España in the same season.

The Bahrain-registered team announced back in November that the Australian would be one of seven riders departing the team ahead of 2026, including Torstein Træen, who has since re-signed with Uno-X Mobility, and Finlay Pickering, who has made the switch to Jayco AlUla, one of Haig’s former teams.
In his final season with the team, Haig raced the Tour de France, abandoning on stage 7, before embarking on a successful Vuelta a España for Bahrain-Victorious, where Træen enjoyed a stint in the red jersey before the Norwegian finished a career-best 9th.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Ineos Grenadiers. It’s a team I’ve followed closely since it started, and they’ve achieved so many great things in their history,” said Haig in an official Ineos statement.
“To now be part of one of the best and most ambitious teams in the world, known for its professionalism and extremely high standards, is something I’m super proud of.
“I can’t wait to get the season started, meet my new teammates, and play my part in challenging for future successes. I’m also looking forward to supporting some of the talented young guys who’ve joined the team.”
The 32-year-old Australian’s arrival at the British team isn’t a big surprise, as it was a deal that had been well-reported on in recent weeks. Daniel Benson had previously reported that both Haig and fellow Australian Sam Welsford arrived at the Ineos Grenadiers training camp in Spain, though the latter hasn't been officially announced to have signed as of yet.
Haig’s arrival follows the recent announcement of five contract extensions for Michał Kwiatkowski, Ben Swift, Kim Heiduk, Brandon Rivera Smith, and fellow Australian Lucas Hamilton, a former teammate from Jayco AlUla.
This marks the fifth signing of the winter for the British team, following the acquisition of the French champion Dorian Godon, Theodor Storm who rejoins from the Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank, and the Arkéa-B&B Hotels duo of Embret Svestad-Bårdseng and Kévin Vauquelin, leaving Ineos with 28 riders confirmed for 2026 so far, with Welsford potentially being number 29.
The recently appointed Director of Racing, Geraint Thomas, paid credit to Haig as a former competitor and looks forward to working with the Australian: “I raced wheel to wheel against Jack for many years, and he’s always impressed me. He’s a fighter and a grafter, and he knows what it takes to stand on the podium at a Grand Tour. I’m sure he’ll be a big part of what we’re going after in the next few years.”
Haig will also link up once more with former teammate Daryl Impey, after the retired South African, now sports director, made the switch from the team formerly known as Israel-Premier Tech, alongside Elia Viviani as sports director.
