Milan romps to back-to-back stage wins at Tour de Pologne
There was never any doubt: Jonathan Milan took another commanding sprint victory in Szczecin ahead of Paul Magnier and retains the overall lead in the Tour de Pologne.

Jonathan Milan delivered a commanding sprint to win stage 2 of the Tour de Pologne in Szczecin, powering clear by two bike lengths at the end of a fast and chaotic finale.
The day’s four rider breakaway was caught with 15 kilometres remaining as the peloton increased the pace on the approach to the finish, setting up the expected bunch sprint.
Milan proved strongest in the final metres, beating Paul Magnier of Soudal Quick-Step into second place, with Matteo Malucelli of XDS Astana Team finishing third.
The result also saw the Lidl-Trek rider retain the overall leader’s jersey and extend his advantage through the stage bonus seconds.
How it unfolded
The 150.1 km flat stage departed under fast conditions along the Baltic coast. A strong four-man group forged clear, including Patryk Stosz (Poland), Radosław Frątczak (Poland), Anton Schiffer (Visma | Lease a Bike), and Jonas Rutsch (Lotto-Intermarché).
At kilometre 64, Dries De Bondt (Team Jayco AlUla) launched a counter-attack from the peloton, bridging across to convert the lead group into a five-rider break.
Shortly after the 75 km mark, Patryk Stosz suffered a mechanical issue and a flat tire. The Polish rider was quickly absorbed by the peloton, leaving four men at the front of the race.
Lidl-Trek, Soudal Quick-Step and EF Education-EasyPost set the pace in the peloton, steadily increasing the tempo as the race headed towards an expected bunch finish.
As the finale approached, Lidl-Trek worked for stage favourite Jonathan Milan while Soudal Quick-Step took responsibility for Paul Magnier. Their efforts reduced the breakaway’s advantage from 1:20 to just 45 seconds.
The escapees were caught with 15 kilometres remaining, setting up a mass sprint for the stage 2 victory.
The pace remained high on the run into the city centre, with riders fighting for position ahead of a technical finale.
A hairpin bend inside the final 300 metres added another complication, but Milan proved a class above as he powered to back to back victories. He will have another opportunity to complete the hat trick tomorrow.
