Jai Hindley ends Visma speculation with Red Bull extension
Jai Hindley will remain with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe after signing a long term contract extension with the German WorldTeam, ending speculation over a possible move to Visma | Lease a Bike.

The Australian had been linked with the Dutch team as a potential replacement for Simon Yates, who unexpectedly retired earlier this year. According to earlier reports, Visma had shown concrete interest in Hindley for 2027, with the 2022 Giro d’Italia winner seen as an ideal rider to strengthen Jonas Vingegaard’s Grand Tour support structure.
Instead, Hindley has committed his future to Red Bull, the team he joined from the then Team DSM in 2022. The extension was confirmed by the team in a press statement, after Daniel Benson had already reported the news earlier this morning.
His time at Red Bull began in spectacular fashion, with overall victory at the Giro d’Italia in his first season, delivering the first Grand Tour title in the history of the German squad.
Since then, Hindley has remained one of the team’s most reliable three week riders. He won a stage and wore the yellow jersey at the 2023 Tour de France, came within 30 seconds of the podium at the 2025 Vuelta a España and returned to the Giro this season to finish third overall, behind Jonas Vingegaard and Felix Gall.
The extension comes while Hindley is currently riding the Tour de France, where he is part of Red Bull’s climbing unit in support of Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz. It underlines the role he continues to play within the team, both as a proven Grand Tour leader in his own right and as an experienced presence around its other GC ambitions.
“Jai has been one of the world’s best Grand Tour riders for many years,” said Zak Dempster, Red Bull's Chief of Sports. “What makes him so valuable to us goes beyond his results. He sets an important example for the whole team, particularly the next generation of Grand Tour riders. The fact that he has committed his future to our team is a strong statement.”
For Red Bull, the new deal is also a commitment to continuity. Hindley is expected to remain a central figure in the team’s Grand Tour plans in the coming years, alongside Evenepoel and Lipowitz, while also serving as an important reference point for younger riders such as Giulio Pellizzari and Luke Tuckwell, who impressed at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in June.
“I’m super happy and grateful to extend my contract and continue my journey with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe,” Hindley said. “I love working with everyone in the team and to me it feels like a second family. I have big personal ambitions, as does the team, and I believe this is the right environment to continue to grow and progress.”
The team did not disclose the length of Hindley’s new contract.
