Paula Blasi lands major Movistar transfer after breakthrough season
The 23-year-old Spaniard will leave UAE Team ADQ for Movistar in 2027 and is set to earn close to one million euros per season.

Paula Blasi will join Movistar from UAE Team ADQ in 2027 after activating a clause that allows her to leave her current contract early, according to a report from WielerFlits.
Multiple sources are said to have confirmed the transfer, with Blasi expected to earn slightly less than one million euros per season at Movistar. Her contract with UAE Team ADQ reportedly included a buyout clause worth €100,000.
At Movistar, Blasi is set to join an established leadership group featuring Marlen Reusser and Liane Lippert, alongside rising British star Cat Ferguson. All three are under contract for the 2027 season, giving the Spanish team an impressive blend of proven winners and emerging talent.
The move follows a remarkable breakthrough season for Blasi, who has established herself as one of the most exciting young riders in the sport.
After finishing third at the Tour Down Under, the Spaniard claimed the biggest one day victory of her career at Amstel Gold Race. She then confirmed her potential as a Grand Tour contender by winning La Vuelta Femenina, taking the leader’s jersey from Anna van der Breggen on the final stage.
Blasi continued her winning run at Durango Durango before adding overall victories at the Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées and the Volta a Catalunya.
Her rapid rise has significantly increased both her sporting and commercial value. Alex Carera, who also represents Tadej Pogačar, previously said that his goal was to make Blasi the first female cyclist to earn an annual salary of one million euros.
“My goal is for Paula Blasi to become the first female cyclist with a salary of one million euros,” Carera said in May. “That is my objective, because she is the future star of cycling.”
That landmark figure has reportedly not quite been reached, but Blasi’s Movistar deal still represents one of the most significant contracts in the history of women’s cycling.
According to WielerFlits, Movistar had been working on the transfer since last winter. Blasi had also been linked with Lidl Trek, with reports suggesting that she had previously signed a letter of intent with the team, but the Spanish squad has now secured her signature.
Before moving to Movistar, Blasi is expected to make her Tour de France Femmes debut with UAE Team ADQ this summer. Despite her major victories in 2026, she has played down expectations and suggested that she will begin the race in a supporting role.
“I’ll just be there to help the team,” Blasi told EFE when asked about her Tour debut.
