Pogacar ready for action as he targets fourth Liège win - 'Tomorrow it's all in'
Tadej Pogacar will be aiming to get back to winning ways at Liège-Bastogne-Liège after his 100% win rate in 2026 was brought to a halt by Wout van Aert at Paris-Roubaix.

Just like most races, there are plenty of impressive milestones that Tadej Pogačar can match at Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday. Alongside only Eddy Merckx, who achieved the feat four times, Pogačar could reach three Monument victories in a season for the second time in his career, having done so in 2024.
Additionally, if Pogačar is victorious in Liège on Sunday, he will draw level with Alejandro Valverde and Moreno Argentin on four victories, and one behind Merckx, having already won in 2021, 2024 and 2025.
As is often the case, Pogačar cut a relaxed figure as he spoke after the team presentation on Sunday, detailing his final preparations for the race, as he hunts a third consecutive victory, something which hasn’t been done since Argentin in 1987.
“Like every year,” Pogačar told CyclingProNet when asked how he plans to approach the race.
“Yesterday was a nice recon, good last training. Today was an easy, nice ride with some coffee,” said Pogačar. And yeah, tomorrow it's all in. We have a good team, and it's a hard field of competitors, but we are motivated, and we go into the race like this."
In his two most recent victories at the race in 2024 and 2025, Pogačar made the race-winning difference on the slopes of the Côte de la Redoute. Naturally, he was asked about the climb and what we can expect.
“Yeah, we haven't talked too much about the tactics for tomorrow. But yeah, anyway, there's not too much talk,” said Pogačar. "It's a long and tiring race. So you need to have good legs and a good team to support you, so that is what the main goal is for tomorrow.”
Among those who will be hoping to stop Pogačar in his tracks include Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas. The World Champion was asked about the challenges that the duo pose.
“Yeah, for sure. I think Paul Seixas showed magnificent form until now, and I think he's ready for tomorrow as well. He's very motivated. He has momentum,” said Pogačar. “And also Remco [Evenepoel], I think it's one of his most suitable races for him as well tomorrow.”
“So yeah, but there are also many others that we need to take care of tomorrow," said Pogačar. "It's not only two, two or three guys that can win tomorrow, but there are many more, and we need to be ready for everybody."
