Primoz Roglic future takes new twist as 2027 decision nears
Primoz Roglic’s future appears to be moving in a new direction, with Tudor Pro Cycling now emerging as the leading candidate to sign the Slovenian for 2027.

Primož Roglič spent much of the summer refusing to be drawn on where he would race next season. Now, with the World Championships behind him, Tudor Pro Cycling appears to have emerged as the strongest option.
According to Daniel Benson, the Swiss team is currently regarded as the favourite to land the 36-year-old, whose contract with Red Bull-Bora- Hansgrohe expires at the end of 2026.
Until recently, Lotto-Intermarché had been one of the most prominent names in the conversation. Roglič confirmed before the Vuelta a España that talks had taken place with the Belgian team, but repeatedly stressed that no decision would be made before the World Championships in Montréal.
That gave him time to focus on the final major goals of his season.
Despite a disrupted preparation, Roglič finished second at the Vuelta and then produced another strong ride at the Worlds. With those races now completed, attention has returned to what comes next.
Tudor’s interest also makes sense in the context of its own recent changes.
Julian Alaphilippe retired last month despite still having a year left on his contract, leaving the team without one of its highest profile riders and opening space for another leader.
Roglič would fill that role immediately. The Slovenian remains one of the most successful stage racers of his generation, with four Vuelta titles and a Giro d’Italia victory, while his second place in Spain this year showed that he can still compete at Grand Tour level.
The Tour de France remains the biggest prize missing from his palmarès, and another attempt at the race could still form part of his plans for the final years of his career.
For Tudor, landing Roglič would be a significant move. The team has steadily raised its level in recent seasons and adding a proven Grand Tour winner would give it a clear leader for the biggest stage races on the calendar.
There is no agreement yet, and Roglič has attracted interest from several teams in recent months. Pinarello-Q36.5 has been linked with the Slovenian, while Bahrain Victorious was also mentioned before the team played down any interest. Lotto-Intermarché, meanwhile, appeared to be the most concrete alternative, with Roglič himself confirming that talks had taken place.
The balance, however, now appears to have shifted towards Tudor.
One factor in that picture is Giulio Ciccone.
The Italian had also been considered by Tudor as the team looked at possible replacements for Alaphilippe. Reports in Belgium and the Netherlands suggested Ciccone was viewed as a potential new leader, while Pinarello-Q36.5 was also pushing to sign him.
More recent reports, however, suggest Ciccone is now closing in on a move there.
That would remove another major name from Tudor’s shortlist and could help explain why Roglič has moved to the centre of its plans.
For now, there is still no deal. But Tudor has emerged as the clearest option yet.
