Primoz Roglic running out of options and time for 2027 after latest transfer twist
The 37-year-old has not yet confirm his plans for 2027, with retirement still a possibility after Pinarello-Q36.5 talks end.

Primož Roglič’s search for a new team ahead of 2027 has taken another twist, with Pinarello-Q36.5 no longer a possible destination for the Slovenian.
Domestique understands that Pinarello Q36.5 negotiated with Roglic over a potential move, but the two sides ultimately failed to reach a deal.
The development was also reflected in an update from Daniel Benson, who reported that a move to the Swiss ProTeam was looking increasingly unlikely.
Pinarello have already signed 11 riders for 2027, including Giulio Ciccone and Mauro Schmid, as the Swiss ProTeam continue to develop their project around Tom Pidcock after finishing 12th in the UCI team ranking this year.
Roglič is set to travel to Taiwan for the Taiwan Masters Ride on Monday 9 November, where he will join hundreds of local riders for an end-of-season event.
By the time he lines up in Taiwan, his future may well be decided; such is the topsy-turvy nature of this transfer saga, though ultimately it seems there is now one less option on the table.
Based on reports, the Slovenian has not been short of potential options to secure a fifteenth year in the professional peloton.
Visma | Lease a Bike held discussions about a potential reunion with the Slovenian after his departure at the end of 2023. However, the Dutch team ultimately opted against making a move for Roglič.
Meanwhile, Lotto-Intermarché reportedly made an offer which was initially turned down by Roglič, after the Slovenian confirmed that he had held discussions with the Belgian team.
Unibet Rose Rockets also revealed their interest in Roglič and held initial discussions with the Slovenian ahead of the Vuelta a España. Tudor Pro Cycling were also named as possible destination but the team played down the possibility to Domestique.
Retirement also remains a distinct possibility for Roglič if he is unable to find a 2027 deal that suits him.
Despite the 37-year-old enjoying a strong end to the season that included second at the Vuelta and winning the European time trial championships, Roglič alluded to the possibility of retirement at Il Lombardia in his final race for Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe on 10 October.
“You never know when is the last one, like everything in life, so it can be a bit emotional,” Roglič said.
