Reusser storms to record-breaking fifth European time trial title
The world champion beat Demi Vollering by 23 seconds in Sencur to move clear of Ellen van Dijk as the most successful rider in the event's history.

Marlen Reusser (Switzerland) won the elite women's individual time trial at the 2026 European Championships, covering the course in Šenčur in 31:30.84 at an average of 41.6km/h.
Demi Vollering (Netherlands) was second at 23.33 seconds, four days after taking the road title on the same circuit, with Juliette Berthet (France) third at 1:09.
Elisa Longo Borghini (Italy) finished fourth at 1:16 and Dominika Włodarczyk (Poland) fifth at 1:30.
The win is Reusser's fifth European time trial title, after victories in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025, and takes her clear of Van Dijk on four. Her only absence from the top step in that run came in 2024, when she did not ride and Lotte Kopecky won in Limburg.
How it unfolded
Reusser was fastest at both intermediate checks. She led Vollering by 11.3 seconds at Tupalice after eight kilometres, having covered the opening uphill section at 31.8km/h, and extended that to 21 seconds at Štefanja Gora at 16.3 kilometres.
The Swiss gained again on the descent and the flat run to the finish, taking a further two seconds out of Vollering over the closing five kilometres.
She also caught Franziska Koch, who had started two minutes ahead of her and finished eleventh at 2:57.
Berthet moved up from fifth at the first check to third by the finish, passing Anja Perović on the road. Longo Borghini, third at Tupalice, slipped to fourth.
Cédrine Kerbaol was sixth at 1:59 and Sandrine Tas seventh at 2:01. Lauren Dickson, Great Britain's only starter, was eighth at 2:22, with Lotte Claes ninth and Lieke Nooijen tenth.
