Sprint revelation Tom Crabbe set to join Pinarello-Q36.5 as Swiss squad continues ambitious rebuild

The Swiss squad’s recruitment drive is set to continue into 2027, with Belgian sprint talent Tom Crabbe expected to arrive from Flanders Baloise and link up with Tom Pidcock, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

The 20-year-old has been one of the breakout riders of the season, taking five victories already this year. His most recent success came at the Tour of Turkey, where he underlined his finishing speed by winning three stages.

Crabbe’s performances have not gone unnoticed. Several major teams were understood to be interested in signing him, including Tudor, Alpecin Premier Tech and Soudal Quick Step. Pinarello-Q36.5, however, appear to have won the race for his signature according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

At the Swiss team, Crabbe will join a growing Belgian contingent that already includes Brent Van Moer, Quinten Hermans, Xandro Meurisse, Aimé De Gendt, Harm Vanhoucke and Frederik Frison.

Crabbe turned professional with Flanders-Baloise last year and has made a significant step forward in 2026. Alongside his three stage wins in Turkey, he also claimed victories at the Etoile de Bessèges and the Ruta del Sol. His rise has come at a time when the future of his current team remains highly uncertain, making a move to a more ambitious project a logical next step.

For Pinarello-Q36.5, the arrival of Crabbe would fit neatly into a wider strategy. The team has already shown clear intent to raise its status in the peloton, with the signing of Pidcock as its marquee figure and the additions of riders such as Eddie Dunbar, Chris Harper, Fred Wright, Van Moer, Hermans and Meurisse last winter.

Despite having Matteo Moschetti in the squad, the team still lacks a genuine top level sprinter capable of consistently delivering results in bunch finishes. Crabbe, still only 20, gives them a rider with both immediate winning potential and significant room to develop.
