Torstein Træen's return completes Uno-X Mobility's roster ahead of debut WorldTour season

Uno-X Mobility have completed their 30-man roster ahead of their first season as a WorldTour side, confirming the re-signing of Torstein Træen after he spent two years with Bahrain-Victorious.

Following his departure from Uno-X ahead of the 2024 season, Torstein Træen spent two seasons with Bahrain-Victorious, enjoying success at the Tour de Suisse and delivering a standout Vuelta a España, where he spent time in the red jersey before finishing with a Grand Tour best of ninth place. Now he returns to the team with whom he has spent more time than most.

Træen was one of the original 11 riders when Uno-X Hydrogen Development Team launched in 2016, helping build the foundation for what has now grown into a WorldTour side, and he will get to be a part of the team’s first season in the top division of professional cycling.

"I can barely describe how much I'm looking forward to becoming a part of Uno-X Mobility. For me, it feels almost like getting back together with a childhood sweetheart - something that has been quietly alive inside me for years, just waiting for the right moment," said Træen.

Whilst there was success for Træen in recent years, it hasn’t come easy, with the Norwegian facing significant personal challenges. In 2022, an abnormal doping control result led to the discovery of testicular cancer, rather than any wrongdoing.

After successful surgery and recovery, he returned to competition within months and has since made his debut at the Tour de France with Uno-X in 2023, before claiming his first professional win at the Tour de Suisse in 2024 with Bahrain-Victorious, and most recently, his Vuelta a España exploits in 2025.

"Joining Uno-X doesn't feel like just another step in my career. It feels like coming home. There's a warmth, a familiarity, and a sense of possibility that makes this move incredibly special to me," Træen added.

The climber has clear ambitions for his return: "Like Jonas Abrahamsen, I dream about winning a stage in one of the Grand Tours - the Giro, the Tour de France, or the Vuelta. That would be really, really cool. My personal goal is to win races - and to help my teammates win theirs. Joining Uno-X really motivates me, because I know it gives me the chance to become the best version of myself."

Uno-X General Manager Thor Hushovd highlighted the qualities Træen brings to the team "Torstein is a rider who performs at WorldTour level. He's shown that clearly with a stage win at the Tour de Suisse and a top-10 finish in the general classification at the Vuelta a España. He's well-liked in the peloton, and we know exactly what he brings to a team."

The former world champion, Hushovd added, "Having him return to Uno-X Mobility feels very positive. He is valuable in one-week stage races and in Grand Tours - supporting the team and fighting for his own results. We're genuinely pleased to welcome him back."

Træen is the seventh signing for Uno-X Mobility ahead of their first season at WorldTour level, adding to Sven Erik Bystrøm, Anthon Charmig, Storm Ingebrigtsen, Alexander Kamp, Tobias Svarre, and Martin Tjøtta.
