UAE Team Emirates DS suspended after two yellow cards at Tour Down Under
UAE Team Emirates-XRG directeur sportif Fabrizio Guidi has been handed a seven-day suspension by the UCI after receiving two yellow cards for safety rule violations on the Tour Down Under.

The Italian received his first yellow card after stage 2 of the Tour Down Under, with the commissaires citing him for “breach of regulations or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race or failure to comply with the instructions of commissaires and/or the organisation.”
Guidi was sanctioned for repeating the same offence on stage 5 of the Tour Down Under on Sunday. In accordance with UCI regulations, Guidi has been handed a seven-day suspension due to receiving two yellow cards in the same event.
As the seven-day suspension is applied from the day of the offence, it seems that Guidi will be able to resume his place behind the wheel of the UAE team car in time for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on Sunday.
Riders, sports directors or other supporting staff who collect a third yellow card within 30 days of the first offence risk a 14-day suspension, though it does not apply when an individual has already been sanctioned for two yellow cards in one race. Riders, sports directors or other supporting staff who accrue six yellow cards within a one-year period face a suspension of 30 days.
2025 was the first full season of the UCI’s yellow card system, with 271 yellow cards issued in total for a variety of safety breaches. 114 went to riders, 46 to team staff, and 53 to sports directors. Danny van Poppel accrued the most yellow cards last season with four, though the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider never collected two in the same race and those avoided suspension.
Alpecin-Deceuninck’s Oscar Riesebeek was the first and only rider to receive a suspension under the system in 2025, when he picked up two yellow cards at the Baloise Belgium Tour.
Tord Gudmestad (Decathlon CMA CGM) was the only rider to receive a yellow card at the Tour Down Under. He was sanctioned on the opening road stage for slowing up and celebrating his teammate Tobias Lund Andresen’s sprint victory.
Throughout the year, we keep track of yellow cards on this page.
